Tough Weekend In Texas; Looking Ahead To Volunteer Speedway

Kilgore, TX. – (March 16, 2010) – The 2010 season has not been kind to Chad Kemenah and crew member Cale Powers.  Kemenah and Powers have been working extremely hard and last weekend at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway they were able to come away with a solid seventh place finish on Friday night, making the very long trip to the Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas a more enjoyable trip.

With beautiful warm weather at the Lonestar Speedway, Kemenah was ready to take his turn at qualifying around the high banked ½ mile looking to start his night off in the right direction and the results were not what Kemenah was looking for as he timed in 27th quick overall.  After qualifying was over Kemenah and Powers got to work changing everything they possibly could trying to find some more speed for the upcoming heat races.

The first two heat races of the night went by very quick as the track was really fast and narrow making passing a premium early on.  Kemenah would have fight his way forward to gain a transfer spot to the A-Main and nearly got the job done after the eight lap heat race was completed; Kemenah would finish in the seventh position after heat three was completed missing the transfer spot by one position.

Starting deep in the field for the 12-Lap, B-Main Kemenah and Powers again went to work on the Golden Flavor Sesame Sticks No.63 sprinter looking for any advantage they could find.  Kemenah would not get the start he was looking for but continued to fight all the way through the B-Main and after everything was all said done Kemenah would miss the transfer spot and be forced to use one of his provisional’s.

Tagging the back of the A-Main in the 26th starting position Kemenah still felt he could make his way forward and gain some valuable World of Outlaws points.  Kemenah quickly got to work using the bottom and the middle of the speedway to his advantage and the No.63 machine was on the move early.  After the first five laps were completed Kemenah was running in the 20th position and looking for more.

As the race continued the car started to improve just a bit and Kemenah moved up a few more positions just shy of the half way point of the 30-Lap feature.  In the closing stages of the race Kemenah would work his way up to the 13th position, and the set up was starting to work against the veteran driver and Kemenah would finish in the 15th position after 30-Laps were completed.

“We have to get better in qualifying,” said Kemenah.  “Qualifying set’s the tone for the rest of the night and it’s very hard to start your heat race in the back and make your way forward, especially on a very fast track like Lonestar Speedway.  Cale and I kept working away on the car and we will get this thing turned around and put together some solid finishes.”

“Volunteer Speedway is a very unique track with lot’s of room to race on,” said Kemenah.  “The last time we raced here the grandstands were sold out and they saw an excellent race that came down to the wire.  Cale and I have been working really hard on this car and were confident we can put together a solid weekend.”
